A Little Halloween Magic Returns: Introducing the 2026 Brenda Mize Witch Collection
There is something about autumn that seems to invite a little magic.
For me, one of the surest signs that Halloween is approaching is the arrival of a new group of witches in my studio. And this year, I am especially delighted to introduce the 2026 Brenda Mize Halloween Witch Collection — the eighth consecutive year that I have created these enchanting little ladies.
What began eight years ago as a seasonal creation has grown into one of my favorite Brenda Mize Dolls traditions. Each year brings a completely new group of witches, and although they may share a Halloween spirit, every witch develops a personality all her own.
Eight Years of Witches — and No Two Alike
One of the things I love most about creating my Halloween witches is watching each little personality emerge.
Every 2026 witch begins as fine porcelain and stands approximately 11 inches tall. As with all Brenda Mize Dolls, her facial features are individually painted entirely by hand. Tiny variations in the eyes, brows, lashes, lips and blushing mean that even witches created for the same collection can never be exactly duplicated.
And perhaps that is particularly appropriate for a witch.
After all, every good witch should possess a little magic of her own.
Meet the Witches of 2026
This year's witches are dressed for Halloween in charming black dresses scattered with whimsical pumpkins and witches. Their wonderfully oversized black witch hats give them just the right amount of storybook drama, while their vivid green feather collars add an unexpected splash of color.
But their accessories may be my favorite part.
Each witch arrives ready for whatever magical adventure Halloween might bring, accompanied by a witch's broom, miniature handcrafted spell book, magic wand and tiny resin frog.
Perhaps the frog is a faithful companion.
Or perhaps he wasn't always a frog.
I'll leave that part of the story to her new collector.
A Closer Look at Esme
One of this year's witches is Esme, pictured here with her beautiful copper-red hair, soft light green eyes and wonderfully expressive face.
There is something delightfully mischievous about her. She doesn't strike me as a particularly frightening witch. Instead, I imagine Esme as the sort who spends October evenings gathering herbs by moonlight, consulting her tiny spell book and occasionally creating a bit of harmless Halloween mischief.
And, of course, she never travels very far without her broom.
Like the other witches in the collection, Esme is a true one-of-a-kind porcelain doll. Once she has found her home, there will never be another Esme exactly like her.
A Halloween Tradition Continues
Looking back over eight years of Halloween witches is a little like looking through a family album. Hairstyles change. Fabrics change. Faces and personalities change. Every year's collection captures a particular moment in my dollmaking journey.
That is one of the wonderful things about collecting handmade dolls.
They don't simply mark a season—they can mark a year, a memory and a chapter in a collection.
For those collectors who have welcomed one of my witches into their homes in previous years, I hope the 2026 collection brings back that familiar feeling of anticipation.
And for anyone discovering my Halloween witches for the first time, perhaps this will be the year your own little coven begins.
The 2026 Witches Have Arrived
The eighth chapter in this Halloween tradition is officially here, and I couldn't be happier to introduce these newest members of the Brenda Mize Dolls family.
Each is individually created, individually painted and completely unique.
Because even after eight years, I still believe Halloween deserves a little magic.
Every October brings a new witch...and a new bit of magic.
